Bronze sculptural monument dedicated to the Fallen of all wars, located inside a monumental enclosure. It represents a soldier who climbs a rock completely covered of ivy while he raises the flag. The soldier is the icon of the fighter that while is capturing a mount, he clasps in a hand the national flag and in the other hand an ice-axe.

The work, realized between 1963 and 1970, has been solemnly inaugurated on 30th August 1970.
The monument has been ordered by a committee "Pro erigendo Monumento" with the economic support of people. The Committee had two presidents: Mariani Serafino and Dini Rocco. Some Members of Parliament of Lucca, authorities of Province and Town and also ex-serviceman's categories representatives have taken part to the Committee of Honour, presided by Hon. Togni, Minister of Industry and Commerce.
Gori Marcello, sculptor coming from Viareggio, is the author of the piece of work. Press sources witness that the bronze statue has been fused in the foundry Lera of Viareggio, while the marble parts (white monolith of Gramolazzo and irregular rock in red marble taken from the quarries of the town of Massa Sassoroso) have been given by Soc. Montecatini.
