Osvaldo Licini

From 12 May to 30 June, the Claudio Poleschi Contemporary Art gallery in Lucca hosts an exhibition dedicated to Osvaldo Licini (Monte Vidon Corrado,  Ascoli Piceno, 1894 – 1958) – one of the leading figures of twentieth century Italian painting.

In homage to Licini’s anti-academic spirit, a catalogue will be published containing contributions, rather than critical essays, written by admirers, scholars and artists, including Gian Marco Montesano and Claudio Olivieri.
In this way, artists from a wide range of backgrounds, often unexpected admirers of Licini’s work, will reveal the often unforeseeable ways and viewpoints from which they have looked at his work. The catalogue is also accompanied by a text by Tecla Magnoni on Licini’s artistic evolution.

The exhibition also wishes to remember certain friends and admirers of Claudio Poleschi, namely Ugo Meneghini (Venezia 1920- 2000) and Oriano Barsotti (Lucca 1938-1977), who organised an exhibition of Licini’s work in Lucca in 1976.
