It’s been over two decades since the loss of this Sienese artist, but his more than 70 years of production have not been forgotten.
To commemorate Maccari, an exhibition has been organised of around 90 pieces selected from his rich repertoire of watercolours, drawings, pastels, temperas and engravings.
The group exhibition “Comedy in Art – Homage to Mino Maccari” covers the period between 1920 and 1984 and features an array of previously unseen works.
Maccari’s chosen subjects are well-known: soldiers, lawyers, priests, marionettes and women of easy virtue, recurring over the years, but ever new in their continuous evolution.
The lucid, ironic, almost sarcastic and at times melancholic way he observed and lived in his time is reflected in his distinguishing and avant-gardiste works exhibited in the Palazzo Mediceo in Seravezza.
Hours: Monday to Friday 17.00/24.00; Saturday and Sunday 10.30/12.30 and 17.00/24.00.
