It was Pope Leo X who prompted Michelangelo Buonarroti to come into contact with Versilia and its marble. With this exhibition, the art critic and writer Lodovico Gierut, plays homage to this mountain territory known for having hosted the famous sculptor in the late 1520s.
This is an exhibition that unfurls in the spacious halls of the Palazzo della Cultura in Cardoso di Stazzema, divided into communicating sections that alternate with pieces of sculpture, painting, photography and writing: “The quarries and more”, “various writings”, “Apua felix”, “Versilia snapshots” and “the sculptors’ signatures”.
The exhibition/document also encompasses the travelling installation “The Lion and its symbols”
Also free availability of films, DVDs and CDs, provided by the various Town Councils, the Apuan Alps Park, and the “L’Altissimo” Photography Club, from the Gierut Archive Committee and by other associations, connected to the region’s activities.
