This exhibition takes the drama of human existence as its starting point.

A series of old sheets and shrouds, some embroidered with red numbers, from prisons or psychiatric hospitals are on display at the Civic Museums of Villa Paolina Bonaparte in Viareggio, 6 – 15 September.

With this exhibition the Ascoli born artist intends to unveil the traces of an entire life from a humble piece of cloth. Shrouds and sheets envelop us from birth to death, and these installations strike the visitor awakening both fond memories and bitter thoughts.

We then pass from white to black with a number of elements, also made of cloth, used and discarded, that are brought back to life in their new artistic form, emerging from the oblivion that colourlessness brings.

The project dwells on material, and its evocative and expressive power.

The exhibition is also accompanied by a series of photographs, “Come fosse…morire” (It was like dying), inspired by the Spanish poet Pedro Salinas.

Free admission. Hours: 18.00 – 23.00. Closed Monday.
