The national museums of Lucca are a dynamic enterprise. Numerous activities revolve around them relating to their cultural policies: new acquisitions, studies and research on the collections and restorations. To account for this work and share its fruits with the public, over recent years there have been recurrent meetings organised to present the news and developments that have emerged over the year.
By chance a number of scholars have been focussing their attention over recent months on works connected with games and themes linked to the macabre and ‘extra-ordinary’. Stemming from this the idea came about to dedicate this year’s series of meetings to the relations that unite the scientific and artistic components for an approach to the works that takes account of the recreational and functional aspects that each object embodies.
Again this year the partner of the initiative is the Association Amici dei Musei e dei monumenti di Lucca e provincia (from the presentation brochure).
