Vinicio Berti. Opere 1973/1990

Vinicio Berti. Opere 1973/1990 is the title of the exhibition that opens the 2014 season of the GAMC. Curated by Alessandra Belluomini Pucci, this exhibition aims to improve the historical and artistic development of the collections held at the “L. Viani” Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art.

For the first time the public is presented with the entire collection of this Florentine artist; forty works donated to Viareggio town in two distinct lots in 2001 and 2011 by Maria Liberia Pini, head of the Vinicio Berti Archive.

Painter of great depth, Berti continuously attempts to develop an abstract, expressive and narrative image, adhering to the history of his time. This collection traces Berti’s artistic development in a succession of works subdivided into different series: “Cittadelle ostili”(Hostile Citadels), “Brecce nel tempo” (Breaks in Time), “Avventuroso astrale” (Astral Adventure), “Cittadelle di resistenza” (Resistance Citadels), “Grandi costruzioni per l’avvenire” (Great Buildings for the Future) and “Guardare in alto” (Looking up).

The inauguration of the exhibition is on Saturday 19 April 2014, 17.30, at the “L. Viani” Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, attended by the Mayor of Viareggio, Leonardo Betti, and Alderman of Culture, Glauco Dal Pino.

Vinicio Berti. Opere 1973/1990 runs until 29 June, every day (except Mondays), from 15.30 to 19.30.
