Coinciding with Homo Faber, a project taking place in different locations around Pietrasanta showcasing local craftsmanship, the MuSA – Virtual Museum of Sculpture and Architecture hosts the audiovisual exhibition entitled “Scolpire il tempo (Sculpting Time) – Mindcraft” from 13 June to 13 July with a specific focus dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti, marking the 450 years since his death.
There will be screenings of films and documentaries that illustrate the various artistic and biographic aspects of the Tuscan genius; from the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica of San Lorenzo illustrated by Antonio Paolucci – director of the Vatican Museums – to the religious and philosophical aspects examined by the documentary “Una Passione Eretica” (Michelangelo Revealed, 2009), and those biographic and artistic analysed by the film “Michelangelo. Il Cuore e la Pietra”, a Sky Arte Hd production with the international star Rutger Hauer in the role of the artist.
The exhibition will also be accompanied by images and documentaries retracing the contemporary vision of the craftsman as an individual and the visual arts in general – the “know-how”, handed down from one generation to the next, revisited under a contemporary light, as the undisputed symbol of the world fame of Pietrasanta.
