The exhibition of work by Gianfranco Rontani is on show on the second floor of Palazzo Guinigi, from 13 June to 24 August.
The Lucca-born artist with notable career as maestro of art and supporter of culture, with numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad – earning him the honorary title of Cavaliere della Repubblica – exhibits 47 works in this show, produced between the sixties and today.
Famous for female nudes, Rontani also gives particular attention to themes such as music and nature. In addition, two large canvases created in 2014 and dedicated to Lucca’s Historic Town Walls will be presented for the first time, to mark their five hundredth anniversary.
“Gianfranco Rontani: il pittore delle donne – tra sacro e profano, metafisica e realtà”, is open with free admission, Tuesday to Sunday, 10.00-18.00.

The exhibition, one of the events marking the five hundredth anniversary of the foundation of Lucca’s Historic Town Walls, was organised by the Opera delle Mura di Lucca in collaboration with Lucca Town Council Office for Culture and with a donation from from the Banca di Pistoia e della Lucchesia.
