To mark the 450th anniversary of the death of Michelangelo Buonarroti, Pietrasanta Town Council and the Visual Arts Foundation promote a series of artistic-cultural events to celebrate the Renaissance artist and his ties with Pietrasanta, in line with contemporary expressive languages.
The initiative Michelangelo Mindcraft aims to focus on a series of characteristics of the poetics and work of Michelangelo Buonarroti, highlighting the continuity of these themes in the discourse and language of contemporary art as well as any discontinuities.
The event consist of two exhibitions:
• “Shadow, Dust and a Promise of Future”, is an event that brings together some of the most influential contemporary international artists, to demonstrate how, over 4 centuries later, the themes explored by Michelangelo are still relevant today.
Free admission, 26 July – 14 September, at the Sant’Agostino Complex and Pietrasanta Cathedral Piazza, every day (except Monday), from 19.00 to 24.00.

• “Il Mito dell’altalena. Del tempo, della bellezza e di altri umani disastri” (The Myth of the Swing. Time, Beauty and Other Human Disasters) explores concepts connected to the yearning towards the ineluctable elapse of time and its consequences for the individual, the sense of identity and above all search for beauty and harmony, as the only instruments of defence from human misery and from the tyranny of Chronos, Time.
Free admission, at the Pietrasanta Visual Arts Centre in the same period (26 July – 14 September), from Tuesday to Sunday, 18.00-20.00/21.00-23.00.
