“MANI DI LUCE” (HANDS OF LIGHT) is the new exhibition of work on aluminium by the Slovakian artist ROBERT HROMEC, on show from 7 October to 2 November with free admission, at Lu.C.C.A. Lounge.
Aluminium is the ideal surface to experiment with light and colour, but above all to reflect on the human figure and the relationship between the terrestrial and the otherworldly. The Slovakian artist Robert Hromec exhibits for the first time in Lucca with his exhibition entitled “Hands of Light“, exhibited at the Lu.C.C.A. Lounge from 7 October to 2 November 2014 (free admission), inaugurated with the presence of the artist Friday 10 October, at 6pm.
In his work, that plays with optical illusion, the symbol of the hand frequently recurs as an expression of activity, royalty, authority, power and dominion, but also, especially in Far Eastern culture, of actions linked to spiritual acceptance and inner experiences. “Robert Hromec – as highlighted by Maurizio Vanni, director of Lu.C.C.A. – even before manifesting signs and symbols, patches of colour on a surface considered as an active force, appropriates a space, mental more than physical, turning it into a live and present dimension, where the composition unfolds before our eyes almost like a riddle to solve”.
In the work by the Bratislava-born artist a kind of dance of the hands is enacted, both in relation to movement and the forms they assume on the surface of his pieces, and for their position in relation to the rest of the body. “Hromec – continues Vanni – often uses the symbology of hands, their different posture, the various positioning of the fingers, and their relation with space and themselves. In an almost obsessive way, the hands become existential tracks, mental prints that seem to want to suggest something primordial and magic“.
Hands that receive, take, indicate, distinguish, close, that reassure, that teach, that recount in an explosion of light, of colourful gestures and reflective elements. Those of Hromec are hands that shine, that bring light and knowledge, but only for those who know how to give themselves up to something without a direct and rationale meaning.
