From 18 October to 9 November, the exhibition of work by Elvira Colognori: “La terra dei Vivi” (The Land of the Living), is on show at the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation, in the old town centre.
With her numerous works the painter manifests, through precise traits and details, her ability to immortalise glances, sentiments and others’ moments of life to the smallest detail, involving the viewer in an unexpected emotionality, triggering doubts and reflection.
In substance, – writes the critic Marco Palamidessi – Elvira‘s work is not just an art of denunciation, but rather an ideal manifesto through images which announces the collective need for a social change, as well as a return to a beauty and original purity, that we hope is not irretrievably lost. A painting of great emotive impact […] with the task of revealing the precarious existential journey of man.
With “La Terra dei Vivi”, the painter participates and throws light on the great problems of contemporary man from zones and cultures that are different (but not so distant) from those in the west, also via dynamic portraits, that are near instantaneous – people caught by surprise, deep in their thoughts, in a fleeting moment.
This exhibition offers a reality that is difficult and suffering and yet full of magic and recondite beauty. Open, with free admission, every day with the hours:
