Seravezza Fotografia, one of Italy’s most important photographic events, this year celebrating its twelfth year, will be held, as usual, at Palazzo Mediceo (UNESCO World Heritage Site ) in Seravezza from 20 February to 12 April.
Its main event this year is “Colour and B&W”, an exhibition that covers 40 years of work of the Neapolitan photo-journalist Francesco Cito. Artist with a great talent for synthesis, Cito has turned his sensitive and attentive eye to conflicts, wars, celebrations, people and landscapes, often focussing his attention on unexpected details.
The event features a rich and varied programme of exhibitions and initiatives. The centrepiece exhibition, is accompanied by those of young up-and-coming artists: Federica Vangelisti, Roberto Mari and again Novella Maggiora and Marco Fantecchi (winners of the best photographic portfolio award Seravezza Fotografia 2014).
An exhibition, entitled “Trame”, is also dedicated to the work of the young photographers followed by Giacomo Donati with the project “Conoscere Fotografando” at the Comprehensive School in Seravezza.
In addition, the photography club “Altissimo”, active throughout the region for some time, will also exhibit a themed collective work, entitled “Una storia di donne”.
“Cesura”, curated by Serena del Soldato, is on show at LABottega, Marina di Petrasanta.
There will also be courses, seminars and workshops and, by application, it will be possible to attend the judging of the photographic portfolios, carried out by experts in the field nominated by the Fiaf. As for previous editions, the author that is judged as having exhibited the best photographic portfolio will have the right to show his/her work in the 2016 edition of Seravezza Fotografia.
The photography exhibition “Colour and B&W” and the other exhibitions at the Scuderie Granducali of Palazzo Mediceo, are open Fridays and Saturdays from 3pm to 7pm and Sundays and public holidays from 10am to 7pm.
