La passione del colore di Mario Puccini da Fattori al Novecento (1869-1920) - La riscoperta di un maestro, la prima grande mostra dedicata al "Van Gogh italiano" / "The Passion of the color of Mario Puccini from Fattori to the twentieth century (1869-1920)-The rediscovery of a great master, that was also called the Italian Van Gogh.”

Between July 11th to November 2th, 2015, Palazzo Mediceo in Seravezza, that is an Unesco World Heritage, will organise the exhibition “The Passion of the color of Mario Puccini from Fattori to the twentieth century (1869-1920)-The rediscovery of a great master, that was also called the Italian Van Gogh.”

The exhibition will be developed in five sections, the first of which will be dedicated to the beginning period and the training period of the artist, with specific comparisons with the works of the Lega, Fattori and Nomellini. The second section attempts to show, through vintage photographs and documents, the six long years of isolation of Puccini in the hospitals of Siena and Livorno. The third large section collects the masterpieces of the artist’s maturity, which are gathered by subject and genre: marine scenes, campaigns, everyday scenes, still lifes reveal the uniqueness and the power of Puccini’s language. A section will be specifically dedicated to the graphics of Puccini, in which the quality of the sign, jointed with the breadth of formats, results in equally spectacular outputs of the works in oil. In conclusion of the exhibition, there will be a show room, that collects the decorations made by different artists which decorated the Livornese Caffè Bardi, next to Puccini. The Caffè Bardi is a meeting place for artists from Tuscany, since 1909 and it is modelled by the Florentine Caffè Michelangelo.
