Until 31 July, in the Casermetta of the Villa Guinigi National Museum, it is possible to visit the exhibition “Illustrissimi. Il ritratto tra vero e ideale nelle collezioni delle Fondazioni di origine bancaria della Toscana” (Illustrissimi. The portrait from real to ideal in the collections of the Foundations with banking origins in Tuscany).
The exhibition, with free admission, makes its third appearance (after Bologna 2012 and Milan 2014) in the initiatives aimed at focussing the attention of the public on the collections of the Italian foundations with banking origins as part of the project “R’accolte”, the website created and run by the Acri (Association of Foundations and Casse di Risparmio Spa) with the purpose of creating an on-line databank of more than 11,000 works of art owned by the foundations. The exhibition, curated by Emanuele Barletti, features a selection of 56 works, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, and is intended to valorise the art collections of the Tuscan foundations through the theme of the ‘portrait’ evolving over time from the end of the 16th century to the end of the 20th century.
