The artisans of Pietrasanta become protagonists in Versiliana. For the first time, HOMO FABER | L’Artigianato, l’Arte e la Conoscenza begins, from Saturday 1 August (inauguration at 7pm at the pier; 8pm in Versiliana), in the setting of the Versiliana park. The exhibition runs until 13 September. The aim is to give the artisans the official role of ambassadors of Pietrasanta, town of art, creating a trait d’union with the town centre, where, this year, the timeless Igor Mitoraj is testimony.
The exhibition showcases the excellence of the artistic craftsmanship of the region. Marble, bronze, various metals, ceramic, terracotta, inlay, mosaics and stone; over 50 works on show illustrate the full potential of the local artistic crafts and at the same time create a kind of museum encompassing the sculptures created by international artists, who have chosen Pietrasanta as the centre of their production.
International artists, who, overturning the traditional dynamics of exhibitions, act as testimonials for the traditional know-how of local artisans, and putting them in the limelight.
The Versiliana park will host large sculptures, including work by Mitoraj to emphasise the continuity with the town centre, but also by Botero, Vèlez and many other artists. In the Fabbrica dei Pinoli, small and medium-size art works will be on show, including a collection of “bozzetti scultorei” (sculpted scale models) from the Museum dei Bozzetti di Pietrasanta.
There is also an “open air” exhibition, conceived for the pier of Marina di Pietrasanta, with sculptures by international artists and a photography exhibition in the Fabbrica dei Pinoli by Giovanni Nardini, Viareggio born philosopher, devoted to photography since the 80s. Photography as research, as an instrument for recounting the social and cultural situation of one’s surroundings in a personal way. In this way Nardini narrated the life within the sculpture workshops and foundries, searching the depths of creativity.
The indoor spaces are open every day 18.00-23.00.
Free admission.
