Press release: The cardboard boxes, the pieces of driftwood, the paper bags and wooden crates, discarded after use, can be transformed into objects of art. And their recovery, through creativity, allows for giving scrap items a new sense and revealing their hidden identity. This is the message that artist Hector&Hector sends with his exhibition entitled “No Terra!”, curated by Maurizio Vanni, on show from 3 November 2015 to 10 January 2016 in the Lu.C.C.A. Lounge &Underground.
The exhibition, produced by Artelite with the organisation of Spirale d’idee, primarily consists of works that use poor materials as palimpsest and provides a panorama of two different lines of research and experimentation of this artist.
The exhibition begins with work from the “Eldorado” series, dedicated to Atlantis, made entirely in gold for the exhibition at the State Archive of Florence in 2012, seen through the film screened in the video room. These precede those of the “No Terra” series, created with cardboard boxes that have been incised with primitive and tribal signs, close to abstract expressionism. In addition, there are installations made of wooden crates and wooden monoliths covered with sequences of binary numbers […].
The exhibition runs, with free entry, until 10 January.
Hours: Tuesday – Sunday, 10am – 7pm.
