THE PICCAIA

The Dune Hotel in Lido di Camaiore presents the exhibition of the artists Giorgio and Matteo Piccaia open until August 31 in the conference rooms and in the hotel lobby.

The duo of contemporary artists exhibits a series of paintings made with mixed techniques (ink, pastel, watercolor) on paper (1956-1984), acrylic on square canvas (2013-2015), where the element represented is water, two recent paintings from the series "Umano, troppo umano", some acrylics on paper (2014), decorated plates, tiles and ceramics. 
 
Matteo Piccaia was born in the Province of Venice. He is interested in drawing and painting from an early age. He lived from the end of World War II for decades in France and in Switzerland, coming into contact with the artistic avant-garde circles. He has been working artistically since 1940. Dino Buzzati has defined his art "neo-figurative emblematic" (Corser, 1971). He lives now in the province of Varese.
Giorgio Piccaia was born in Geneva, Switzerland. He attended with his father since childhood  the artistic environment of Geneva. He studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic, he is a student of Corrado Levi. Between 1970 and 1980 he worked in Poland and Italy with Jerzy Grotowski. His works are paintings, installations and ceramics. He lives in Agrate Conturbia in the province of Novara.
