LUCCA LOVES SHAKESPEARE – MacBeth

In honor of the anniversary of 400 years of Shakespeare's death, Teatro del Giglio and Tuscany Inglese Academy is proud to join the international community with a wide range of events throughout 2016 with workshops, performances, English language courses, aperitifs and Talk, Projections of movies, culinary celebrations, and more!

On june 18/19 The company The Inglese Theatre Company continues its path of revival of Shakespearean texts in their original language. This time the choice has been the most bitter tragedy and murkier Bardo: Macbeth, a work on the problematic relationship between love and power that will see six actors committed to covering twenty original characters, in a shortened version and lasts about a ' hour and a half. These in fact are the peculiarities of The Inglese Theatre Company: the extreme versatility of the actors, dramatic inlay and philological respect of the verse of Shakespeare.

The Macbeth of The Inglese Theatre Company offers the opportunity to attend a staged opera in modern key and feeling, by mother tongue and bilingual actors, the same charm and the same musicality that viewers felt the Globe in 1611.

The reduction it does not want to be in any sense didactic or diminutive, offers the possibility to be enjoyed in enjoyable way and without losing complexity.

The choice fell on Macbeth for the universality of the themes that, even on the basis of interpretations made by Orson Welles, Akira Kurosawa and Roman Polanski, make the Scottish king one of the most impressive characters and extraordinary to be staged.
