Tuscan landscapes and Lombardy of the twentieth century still to be discovered, imbued with poetry, light, color. From 16 July to 27 August, the Ricci Onlus Foundation organizes at its headquarters in Barga, by the President Christian Ricci, an exhibition dedicated to the works of Umberto Vittorini, artist born in Barga disappeared thirty-seven years ago.
Vittorini was inspired by particular cultural climate of the Serchio Valley and, after the initial attention to the Macchiaioli and Cezanne summary, reached a personal pictorial figure. The exhibition is part of the line of studies, discussions and exhibitions that Ricci Foundation dedicated years the big names linked to the Serchio Valley (including G. Pascoli, A. Magri, GB Santini, A. Balduini) that have left a mark in the memory and history of the area.
The exhibition will display more than 110 works from private archives, most of which are new and therefore unknown to the public and critics.
Works, those of Vittorini, which mark his long career as an artist describing places and people, but also the tragic experiences firsthand throughout the twentieth century, crossing with its existence both world wars, the first of which fought alongside colleague and friend Lorenzo Viani.
