THE SKETCHES OF VIAREGGIO'S CARNIVAL INSPIRED BY THE SEA

Carnival is the largest spectacular event, which animates and sums up the popular culture of Viareggio. It is the fusion of the experience of shipyards specialized crafts with artistic elements and static and dynamic engineering, which have transformed the party in Viareggio into the "factory" of Italian entertainment. 

 

Already the famous manifesto that Uberto Bonetti created in 1931, had highlighted this relationship: the two masks advancing along the quays, Burlamacco on the side of the docks, to emphasize its marine origin, Ondina on the side of the beach establishments, to witness the tourists and fashionable society of Viareggio's summer.

 

The exhibition is part of the program developed by the Museum for the promotion of the documentary heritage preserved by the Carnival Center for Studies.
