Where the artificial lights are not intrusive a simple binocular and a good sky atlas are enough to discover star clusters, nebulae, the Andromeda galaxy or the Milky Way.
Since 1996, the park Migliarino San Rossore is a "Park of the Stars", a national project to survey and make known these "islands of darkness" which preserves and promotes, for future generations, not only the landscape, fauna and flora, but also the sky in order to raise public awareness on the issue of light pollution and energy conservation.
As part of this initiative, the LIPU Massaciuccoli organizes for the 18th consecutive year, "The nights of falling stars" (August 10-11-12) in the splendid natural scenery of the Lake Massaciuccoli. The event includes a guided tour of the Natural Reserve of Chiarone, located on the eastern shore of the lake, a dinner party with music on the square of little harbour and a nighttime boat tour to explore the sky vault under the guidance of expert astronomers.

To conclude the initiative "Park of the stars", the Oasis presents a special evening dedicated to art, music and nature. Quick tastings of local food, dance perfomances, music and theater. Free entry.
