The chapel of the right transept of the Duomo of Saintn Martin contains a tempera on wood painging by an anonymous painter active in the first half of the fifteenth century. The work called "Our Lady of the Sun" is dated 1424 and is so named because from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries was revered by the faithful to ward off long periods of rain or pestilence.
In 1855, "Our Lady of the Sun" was proclaimed by the City Council Patroness of Pietrasanta.
The sacred image is only visible in a few days that commemorate special events in which the Madonna benefited Pietrasanta its protection:
– The "Saturday of the vow" the one preceding Palm Sunday, only in the morning. On April 12, 1631, the City made a vow, as Pietrasanta was preserved from the plague.
– On May 31, for the evening recitation of the Rosary at the conclusion of the month dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
– On September 8, the day of Our Lady of the Sun, for the whole day,
– On the last Sunday of November in thanksgiving, since November 21, 1944 the Virgin saved the city from the bombing of the war.

ore 18:00 – Solemn Concelebration with all the priests of Pietrasanta's Local Council presided by the Archbishop of Pisa Mons. Giovanni Paolo Benotto.
During the celebaration the relic will be veiled again.
