The Compagnia Balestrieri Lucca, which since 1970 has taken charge of keeping alive the history and ancient customs of our beautiful city, repeats loudly the ancient city Palio.
In the Middle Ages it was customary to take place twice a year (May and September) but the Compagnia Balestrieri Lucca since the 70 decided to organize the Palio for the celebration of its patron Saint Paulinus and Santa Croce, with the tradition that ' 1996 had failed, remaining stable only the usual Crossbow in honor of San Paolino July 12.
From 16.30 in Piazza San Michele in foro, the crossbowmen, divided into three teams representing the three neighborhoods of the city of Lucca (San Salvatore, San Paolino and San Martino, whose respective representative colors are green, red and black), you contend addition to the honor for the best shot, the "Palio", a drape painted by hand which marks the victory of the best Terziere.
