DAY OF CONTEMPORARY

The first or second Saturday of October the museums associated with AMACI, in collaboration with all the institutions of our country that freely decide to join the initiative, open their doors free of charge for an initiative full of events, exhibitions, conferences and workshops. A multifaceted program that offers an unmissable opportunity to live closely the liveliness and richness of art today.

 

For this twelfth edition, the directors of the 24 associated museums called Emilio Isgrò to realize the leading image, that continues the project begun in 2006 to entrust to an Italian artist of international fame the creation of  the leading image of the event.

The image created by Isgrò is titled Prayer for Europe and shows an erased Europe with borders extending much further than those of the European Union, ideally embracing the countries bordering the Mediterranean. The image is a reflection on the divisions – geographical, political, cultural – that today more than ever feed feelings and nationalistic tendencies that the history he hoped to have erased.

In the province of Lucca participate in the event the following museums:

h. 16:00 / 19:00 – Fondazione, Centro Studi sull'Arte, Ragghianti, via S. Micheletto 3, sala Luigi De'Servi, Lucca – Screening of critofilm "The Art of Rosai" and the video lessons of Carlo L. Ragghianti "Masters of the twentieth century". After a brief introduction, the films will be screened on a continuous cycle from 1600 to 19:00, to allow the public full freedom of access and use of these extraordinary audiovisual testimonies.

h. 11:00 / 19:30 – Tenuta Dello Scompiglio, via di Vorno 67/B, Loc. Exhibition of the three winning installations of the contest "Assemblaggi Provvisori" devoted to gender issues:

h. 10:00 / 13:00 – Museo dei Bozzeti "Pierluigi Gherardi",  Chiostro di S. Agostino, via S. Agostino 1, Pietrasanta – Extraordinary opening in the morning hours both of the historic seat of the museum, inside the cloister of St. Augustine, and of the new exhibition spaces in Palazzo Panichi. A journey into the international contemporary sculpture, a journey to discover the valuable work of local craftsmen and their fruitful relationship with the artists to come from the creative idea to the realization of a sculpture.

h. 15:30 / 19:30 – GAMC: Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea Lorenzo Viani, piazza Mazzini 22, Viareggio – The artist Carlo Galli  presents Transparencies a site-specific work for the lobby of the museum, a work in line with the core of the last works titled Untitled, realized through the formal combination of adhesive tape signaling bands. Speakers: Alessandra Belluomini Pucci, Scientific Director GAMC / Carlo Galli, artist / Vittore Baroni, artist / Gaia Querci, art historian.

h. 17:00 – Museo Ugo Guidi, Forte dei Marmi, via M. Civitali, 33 – Inauguration of the collective painting exhibition “Il Percorso delle Arti” curated and presented by Fabrizio Borghini and Claudio Caioli for Toscana Cultura e Arte per l’Arte.
The exhibition will be open until 10 November 2016 at the MUG and the Logos Hotel lobby, Via Mazzini 153.
