WAR IS OVER

Two compared different visions of the Liberation exposed through a selection of about 140 images and videos at villa Bertelli. On the one hand shots in black and white by Istituto Luce, the official organ of photo-film documentation of the regime; on the other hand, the color photographs by the Signal Corps, the communications service in the wake of US troops.
The images produced from the archive of the Istituto Luce are initially the expression of the grim decline of fascism and then of the sobriety of a ruling class that seeks to raise up from the ruins of war; the shots of the Signal Crops instead are more attentive to social data and immortalize moments of celebration and hope mixed with fear and the loss of a destroyed and hungry country struggling for a rebirth.

The exhibition's War is over winds through 10 thematic sections, in which the two sets of images are placed side by side for a quick and exciting dialogue.

The exhibition is supported by three video screens showing the involvement of major Hollywood directors (integrated in the Signal Corps) in World War II and the joy and the stunning of countless moments of the Italian Liberation, in addition to an original synthesis of the images on display.

The opening will take place on December 17 at 6:00 pm.
