The personal exhibition by Giuseppe Carta includes around one hundred works, including monumental sculptures and not – in bronze, marble, aluminum and resin – and oils on canvas, on display in Piazza del Duomo, the Church of Sant'Agostino, and the pier of Forte dei Marmi.
Conceived as a complex and harmonious staging, the focus of the works, typical of Carta's art, is Nature. Fruits and vegetables are portrayed both in their moments of greatest splendor as in those of transience, evolution and rot.
Piazza Duomo will host a huge 16 meter chili sculpture – iconic and traditional image, pop for its natural color scheme, timeless and full of symbolism – emerging from underground and rising towards the sky, next to five other chilies, spicy symbol of irrepressible vitality affecting thoughts, emotions, creativity.
The naturalistic portraits of fruits and vegetables do not only appear as sculptures, but also as paintings in Sala dei Putti and the in the Church of Sant'Agostino with oils on canvas, still lifes full of veracity sided by nine spectacular reproductions of the artist's works by film director Alberto Bartalini, accentuating the theatrical installation in the center of the church with different fruits in polychrome bronze and aluminum.
The exhibit extends also to the pier of Forte dei Marmi with a huge open pomegranate with juicy beans emerging from the inside, symbol of prosperity and new life. The sculpture was created in 2012 as set design of the Teatro del Silenzio of Andrea Bocelli in Lajatico in Tuscany and has become a symbol of the Andrea Bocelli Humanitarian Award.
Vernissage will take place on Saturday, February 25 at 18:00.
