At the Lucca Film Festival and Europa Cinema are back the great exhibitions that enrich the event and pay tribute to both international film directors of the who are guest of the event as well as a timeless names of the pas-ttime cinema.
For this thirteenth edition of the festival are scheduled two exhibitions. In Viareggio since March 18, at Gamc (Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea) is a tribute to Federico Fellini and his never made film project, while in Lucca, at the Fondazione Ragghianti are celebrated the main exponents of the Punk movement such as Jamie Reid, John Tiberi and Julien Temple.
"Il viaggio di Mastorna. Il sogno di un film messo in scena" (Mastrona's voyage. A never produced dream) presented as a world premiere is curated by Alessandro Romanini and Francesco Frigeri and produced by the Experimental Centre of Cinematography in Rome, celebrates Federico Fellini at the Lucca Film Festival/ Europa Cinema 2017, proposing the executive boards of the scenes of his never produced film, as if everything was ready to shoot the new movie by the Maestro from Rimini.
Fellini started thinking about "Mastorna's Journey" in the early sixties, writing notes, drawing sets and costumes, drafting the script and even doing the auditions to actors. He kept thinking about it for a lifetime, but the film, in the end, was never realized. The Centro sperimentale di cinematografia, in collaboration with the Istituto Luce which preserves all preparatory materials of these films, decided to "give life" to that never filmed screenplay, realizing the executive boards, as if they were ready for a real shooting.
50 executive boards of the scenes, created by students of the Department of Stage Design, after careful analysis of the notes and sketches for the costumes and the characters left by Fellini. The exhibition will be supplemented by video clips from interviews with the director who talks about his never realized film and by the audition for the Mastorna movie made to Marcello Mastroianni, in the theater 5 of Cinecittà.
