An extraordinary red carpet to welcome the film festival which ideally joins the maintown Lucca to Versilia with stars of depth such as Oliver Stone, Willem Dafoe, Aki Kaurismaki, Olivier Assayas, Valeria Golino and Julien Temple. The structured program starts on April 2 and will affect numerous locations both in Lucca in Viareggio.
With European films will be attending the festival the Finnish master Aki Kaurismaki, who won the silver Bear at the Berlinale in 2017 with 'The Other Side of Hope', the French filmmaker Olivier Assayas recently awarded in Cannes, Cristi Puiu master who opened the season of "New Romanian Cinema" and Bruno Monsaingeon among the greatest musical documentary filmmakers in the world.
To each of the award-winning international film stars will be dedicated tributes: screenings, awards and meetings with the public.

Monday, April 3
at 10.00 am – Lucca, Auditorium della Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca – Meeting on the topic Pinocchio. A part from the PInocchio of the Disney movie (1940), which is the most famous still nowadays, there are other feature films dedicated to the puppet of Carlo Collodi, espiecially in Italy. Therefore during the seminary will be spoken also about these less famous films: Un burattino di nome Pinocchio (Giuliano Cenci del 1971), Le avventure di Pinocchio (Luigi Comencini nel 1972) and Pinocchio (Enzo D’Alò del 2012).
at 10:00 am – Lucca, Sala Convegni “Vincenzo da Massa Carrara" – Screening of the documentary film La grande truffa del rock’n roll (Julien Temple, U.K. 1980, 100’, col.).After the film conversation with Julien Temple, music documentary film director.

at 9:15 am – Lucca, Istituto Musicale Luigi Boccherini – Conversation with Bruno Monsaingeon. Screening of the film “David Oistrach, artiste du peuple?” di Bruno Monsaingeon (Francia, col, 84’). Then conversation with the famous documentary film director.
at 10:00 am – Lucca, Auditorium della Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca – Meeting on the topic "Male techers". Screening of clips and discussion on what happens in a classroom whent the teacher is a man. A Project in collaboration with the University of Florence for the series "Cinema and training: Bodies, what is experienced and what imagined at school, between childhood and adolescence".
at 10:30 – Lucca, Sala Convegni “Vincenzo da Massa Carrara" – Conversation with Valeria Golino. Her mother is Greek, her father Italian, her voice is hoarsley and sensual, her hair is thick and curly. Valeria Golino Valeria Golino has set in over twenty years of career as one of Europe's most respected performers in the United States.

Wednesday, April 5
at 9:00 am – Lucca, Auditorium della Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca – Family and childhood plus Family and adolescence. Discusion and screening of clips which topic will be the words: conflict, control, conditioning, confidence, acceptance. Project in collaboration with the University of Florence for the series "Cinema and training: Bodies, what is experienced and what imagined at school, between childhood and adolescence".
at 5:00 pm – Lucca, Auditorium della Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca – Presentation of the book Rossellini dal grande al piccolo schermo, Liguori Editore, 2016. The author, Paolo Licher and the film director Renzo Rossellini will attend the presetation.
at 9:00 pm – Cinema Centrale – Awards / Conversation with Bruno Monsaingeon, Then broadcast of the movie 'Glenn Gould: Au delà du temps'. (France 2006). Documentary film that reproposes the life and the work by the great Canadian pianist Glenn Gould.
Thursday, April 6
at 10:00 am – Lucca, Sala dell'Affresco, San Micheletto – Corpi bambini, sprechi d'infanzia. Debate on the topic after having seen and commented the scenes taken from several films.
at 9:00 pm – Cinema Centrale – Awards / Conversation with Cristi Puiu. Introduction by the film critic Francesco Saverio Marzaduri. Then screening of the movie 'Sieranevada' (Romania, Francia, Bosnia e Erzegovina, Croazia, Macedonia, 2016). Three days after the terrorist attack to the offices of the Paris magazine Charlie Hebdo and forty days after the death of his father, Lary, a doctor in his forties is going to spend a Saturday in a family meeting. Here, forced to face his fears and his past, he feels compelled to tell his version of events.

at 10:30 am – Lucca, Teatro del Giglio, Piazza del Giglio – Conversation with Willem Dafoe. The American actor, interviewed by Gianluca Pulsoni and Emanuele Vietina will talk about the many interpretive experiences that he had faced in his career, the preparatory courses for the construction of the roles he played, the differences and similarities in the approach to films of great authors by whom he was directed, of the contemporary actors' job, who are increasingly requested to act in different productive and technological contexts.
at 5:00 pm – Lucca, Auditorium della Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca – Event by Centro Donna Lucca in collaboration with Cineforum Ezechiele 25.17. at 10:30 am – Lucca, Teatro del Giglio – Conversation with Oliver Stone. The famous American film director will be interviewed by Silvia Bizio, correspondent for La Repubblica in Los Angeles.
at 4:30 pm – Lucca, fondazione Ragghianti, San Micheletto, Sala dell'Affresco – Presentation of the book Bloodywood Vampiri Vintage, in collaboration with Sergio Bonelli, editor and Lucca Comics & Games. Giorgio Giusfredi and Michele Cropera from Bonelli Editore, and Dario Dino Guida di Lucca Comics & Games will attend the presentation.
at 5:00 pm – Lucca, Cinema Astra – Giada Colagrande and Willem Dafoe introduce the film Padre. Then screening of the film Padre, by Giada Colagrande, Italia, 2016, 96’, col. Giunluca Pulsoni moderates the speech.
at 6:00 pm – Lucca, Teatro del Giglio – Conversation with Sergio Castellitto: "Listening to the Piano: Cinema and therapy". The meeting is organized by the Mario Tobino Foundation and is dedicated to the relationship between cinema, TV, theatre and mental disease. The concept and the conduction are by Mario Sesti; in the talk show will participate Prof. Pietro Pietrini, president of the Foundation Mario Tobino and Manrico Ferrucci, Director of Teatro del Giglio. After the meeting will be screened the short film "Il sogno d'oro" by Simone Rabassini, a young film director from Lucca who wants to focus on the therapeutic funcion of music and in particular that of Puccini.

at 9:00 pm – Lucca, Astra Cinema – Awards / Conversation with Willem Dafoe. Introduction by the critic Gianluca Pulsoni. Following screening of the film “Antichrist” by Lars von Trier, (Danmark, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Poland, 2009). Plot: The son of a couple dies tragically while both parents are having a sex. The husband, who is psychotherapist, decides to personally help his wife to overcome the trauma, while conscious of unorthodoxy of his behavior … Drama, winner of the "Best Film".
Sunday, April 9
at 9:00 pm – Lucca, Cinema Centrale – Awards / Conversation with Olivier Assayas. The interview will be followed by a screening of the film "Personal Shopper" (France 2016), in Tuscany premiere. Plot: Maureen, young American in Paris, is in charge of the wardrobe of a celebrity. She does not like her work but it is the only one she has found … One day the spirit of Lewis, her twin brother who has recently died manifests by strange messages on her cell phone.
