Galileo Chini is a figure of the versatile artist, he is interested in ceramics, graphics and decoration of villas and palaces, promoting Art Nouveau in Italy. In 1896 he founded in Florence, manufacturing Art of Ceramics, for which he designed tiles connected to the taste of international modernism.
The ceramics he designed, characterized in the early production of elegant floral forms, immediately arouse admiration for the high quality level. In 1906 Chini created, together with his cousin Chino Chini, the new manufacture Fornaci San Lorenzo. Only the factory's destruction during World War II will end its activities.
