People & Art - Gianluca Dellanoce

What do visitors of an exhibition observe? Which are their reactions to any form of art? People & Art is the title of the photo exhibition of Gianluca Dellanoce, organized by Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca, open from March 20 to April 5, at the new premises of piazza San Martino 7.
Gianluca Dellanoce, photo reporter from Brescia, but “Lucchese” of adoption, has portrayed in 40 black and white shots the different approaches of people in front of sculptures, paintings and art objects of the most important world museums.

“Instead of looking at the works of art, I look at people observing them – Gianluca Dellanoce says – I look for and photograph the most intimate moments of contact with the works of art, discovering and capturing them with my silent Leica. Unaware, these visitors let themselves be captured, they will never know that they are exhibited here, or maybe, by chance, it can happen that someone will see himself again and will recognize himself: the world is small…”

Gianluca Dellanoce is a freelance reportage photographer working for several magazines. His first photo book “Strade Ferrate” (Cremona 2004), was followed by “Istambul” (edizioni Cremona Produce 2005): black and white reportage dedicated to the Turkish megalopolis, and Fes (Cremona Produce 2006), a colour portfolio about to the most ancient town of Morocco, and “Talium est enim regnum caelorum”, dedicated to disabled people. In 2007 he publishes the reportage “Siria sulla via di Damasco” and in 2008 “New York”, a black and white book dedicated to the Big Apple. He prefers black and white photography, looking after the printing as well, but he doesn’t despise using colour to create peculiar atmospheres. He lives in Tuscan countryside, a few kilometers away from Lucca.
