Giuseppe Palumbo - L'opera pittorica 1996-2010 / Giuseppe Palumbo. L'opera pittorica 1996-2010

On Friday, June 18th, at 18.00, the inauguration of the personal exhibition dedicated to the painter Giuseppe Palumbo will be held at the Church of S. Cristoforo sul Fillungo, Lucca.

The exhibition is open everyday until June 27th; the day of the Vernissage there will be a presentation of the volume “Giuseppe Palumbo. Pictorial work 1996-2010” by Marco Moretti and Oriana Rispoli, pubblished by Nuove Tendenze with the sponsorship by the Province of Lucca and the Town Council of Capannori.

In relation to the exhibition, six, extremely varied, high-quality concert performances have been organised, involving well-known and respected Tuscan musicians.

At 20.00, on Friday, June 18th, the inauguration day, there is concert by the Suoni d’arte Ensemble, featuring the well-known tenor Leonardo De Lisi and the musicians Alessio Bacci (flute), Miriam Sadun (violin) and Lisetta Rossi (harp). The program includes “L’opera in salotto: il belcanto italiano in forma di concerto”, a selection of instrumental pieces, romances, arias and interpretations for tenor and trio.

On Saturday, June 19th, at 19.00, and repeated at 21.00, the extraordinary 18 year old musician Edoardo Pieri, winner of numerous awards and refined interpreter of the most beautiful guitar pieces by Alexandre Tansman, will give a classical guitar concert.

At 21.00, on Sunday 20th, the Argentine Tango Duo, Maximiliano Cicuttini and Roberto Pugliese, perform their fascinating repertoire of traditional tango pieces for flute and guitar, from Villoldo (1861-1919) to the contemporaries Mores and Salgàn.

On Friday, June 25th, at 21.00, there is a concert by the “Jazz Freaks” Trio composed of Stefano Betti on tenor sax, Stefano Cardella on drums and Leonardo Gnesi on double bass, organised in collaboration with the cultural association “Experia”.

Saturday June 26th, at 21.00, sees the eagerly awaited concert by the Nuova Cappella di Palazzo Ensemble conducted by Jonathan Brandani. In 2009, with the help of Nuove Tendenze, this extremely young, Lucca born, orchestra conductor founded an instrumental and vocal consortium of excellence that plays using period instruments in the aim of allowing the public to rediscover the splendid baroque musical tradition of Lucca. Each concert makes it possible to listen to long forgotten musical treasures from the 17th and 18th centuries, with a philological interpretation that is both precise and sparkling.
