From Fattori to Casorati. Masterpieces from the Ojetti Collection

Da Fattori a Casorati. Capolavori dalla Collezione Ojetti / From Fattori to Casorati. Masterpieces from the Ojetti Collection

From June 25th to September 12th, the exhibition “From Fattori to Casorati. Masterpieces from the Ojetti Collection” is open to the public in the liberty halls at the Matteucci Centre, Viareggio.

The exhibition, curated by Giovanna De Lorenzi with the collaboration of Graziella Battaglia, Silvestra Bietoletti and Rossella Campana, reassembles the art collection of the writer and critic Ugo Ojetti (1871-1946), who, for thirty years, oversaw the cultural section of the Corriere newspaper.
After lengthy investigation of the critic’s private archives, it has been possible to trace the physiognomy of one of the most prestigious and representative collections of Italian art from the first half of the 20th century.

The most valuable pieces on show from the modern body of the collection include work by the artists Fattori, Borrani, Signorini, Pellizza da Volpedo, Ghiglia; Felice Casorati, and the sculptors Libero Andreotti and Marino Marini.

The exhibition also functions as a kind of manifesto for the activities of the Matteucci Centre, the new cultural association founded by Giuliano Matteucci. This association’s objectives include: investigating, documenting and exhibiting modern art, especially from the 19th to 20th century, using and promoting period collections.

After Viareggio, the exhibition will be on show at the Picture Gallery of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio, Tortona, from September 25th to November 28th.
