Writing in ancient times

From July 10th to 30th, the exhibition “La scrittura nell’antichità: dal Vicino Oriente e Mesopotamia al mondo etrusco-romano” (Writing in ancient times: from the Near East and Mesopotamia to the Etruscan-Roman world), organised by the Archaeological Museum of Camaiore as part of event “Le Notti dell’Archeologia 2010” (Nights of Archaeology 2010), is on show at Palazzo Tori, via Vittorio Emanuele 181, Camaiore.
Free admission. Hours: Mon – Fri 9.00-13.00. (Weds – also 15.00-18.00)

On the occasion of the exhibition the following free educational workshops for children aged 6 to 13 have been organised:
Tuesday, 13 July (9.30-12.00): “The birth of writing in Mesopotamia” with experimentation of the ancient cuneiform writing system.
Tuesday, 20 July (9.30-12.00): “Hieroglyphic writing in Ancient Egypt” with experimentation of the ancient hieroglyphic writing system.
Tuesday, 27 July (9.30-12.00): “Write in Etruscan” with experimentation of Etruscan writing on wax tablets.
