From July to September the basement of the S. Colombano Rampart will reopen for “Le Mura Dentro”, a “container” event for various exhibitions with a common theme.
From 1st to 31st July, there are three shows dedicated to comic-strip art and illustration: “Scoprendo Lucca Comics & Games”, on the relationship between the town and this famous event, devised specifically for tourists; “Maledetti Toscani” on some of the most famous local comic-strip artists; and “Stelle Nascoste” an exhibition of illustrations by Lucca Junior, dedicated to Galileo Galilei.
The second initiative, beginning on July 31st, sees the presentation of fifty, 20th century images of the Town Walls from the Town Council Photographic Archive.
Lastly, from the 2nd to 30th September, there is an exhibition of images by photographer Riccardo Manca of places along Via Francigena in Lucca.
The basement of the S. Colombano Rampart is well worth a visit in itself: in the central hall it is possible to see the roman floor and the 13th century turret that formed part of medieval town walls.
