The prize, established in 1973, takes place every year in september. It made Forte dei Marmi become the world capital of the satiric art. The prize, in fact, was given, among the others, to the italians Forattini, Altan, Pino Zac, Pericoli & Pirella, Chiappori, Staino, Giannelli, Vincino, Bucchi, to the french Serre, Kerleroux, Tim, Pancho, to the english Steadman, Steve Bell, to the american David Levine, Jules Feiffer, Garry B. Trudeau, Kal, MacNelly and to other satiric designers of many other countries (Spain, Germany, Austria and so on). The prize confered a degree on journalists, writers, directors and artists like Benigni, Arbore, Fo, Sciascia, Montanelli, Zavattini, Del Buono, Campanile, Maccari, Moretti, Ghezzi, Ricci, Gino e Michele, Maltese, Guglielmi, Chiambretti and many others.
