Guided tour of the Parish Church of Saint Stefano

The Province of Lucca has organised a series of guided tours to promote awareness of the Romanesque churches in the Brancoli and Versilia area.

In the Middle Ages the Parish Church of Saint Stefano in Vallecchia marked the southern confine of the diocese of Luni, with a jurisdiction over the whole of the Seravezza area. The building, whose plan dates to the 12th century, was however extensively adapted over the centuries and today pieces of the original walls are only visible in the external base and apse.

This initiative forms part of the European ITERR-COST project which has the aim of promoting the Romanesque cultural heritage of the northern Tyrrhenian area.
