Pino Deodato - "Il circo dell'arte"

From 15 January to 28 February, 2011, the one-man exhibition “Il Circo dell’arte” by Pino Deodato will be on show at the deconsecrated Church of San Matteo in Lucca. Pino Deodato’s work includes both painting and sculpture. This show features sculpture in the form of a clown without clothes. This key figure metaphorically representing those who strip themselves bare to give strength to the creative act and return to childhood through play.
The exhibition has been conceived as one single large installation divided between the space of the gallery and that of the Church of San Matteo, using painting and sculpture in a continuous linking of cross references to the contemporary world. The sculpture draws attention to the human presence through a myriad of figures that are ever busy doing something, each occupied in a sort of profession or characteristic activity. The artist creates this imaginary world using metaphors and proverbs.
