The Museum is located in the ancient house (16th century) of the ancestors of Giacomo Puccini, in the center of Celle, the small village where Iacopo di Antonio Puccini was born in 1712, great-grandfather of the famous composer from Lucca and progenitor of the dynasty of musicians who found in the Mo James the culmination of their glory. With Celle the Maestro, who was born in Lucca in 1858, always maintained an intense emotional bond, and loved to return there: the last time was on 10/26/1924, a few weeks before he died. On the occasion of that last visit, the town welcomed the Maestro with great celebration, and a plaque still present was inaugurated on the facade of the house of his ancestors. It is precisely in that house, where the Puccini dynasty probably lived since the 16th century, that the Museum is set up where many documents and memories of the family and Giacomo Puccini himself are exhibited. In fact, the Museum, which was established in 1973 by the Lucchesi nel Mondo Association which owns and manages it, presents an interesting collection of furnishings and memorabilia such as the room where Puccini was born, the piano on which he composed part of Madame Butterfly, and the gramophone that Edison himself had given him, but also presents furnishings, tools and work tools of the ancient peasant tradition, and above all many documents, letters and musical scores for the most part originating from the donation of the Master's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout the year, the Lucchesi nel Mondo Association organizes guided tours of the Museum and, in the summer, concerts of operatic music in the square in front.
