In Contemporanea – 9 artists from Versilia

In Contemporanea - Nove artisti versiliesi / In Contemporanea - 9 artists from Versilia

Over the course of the 20th century Versilia witnessed a complex interlace of artistic expressions and languages, involving many individuals, inspired by different poetics and styles.
From 22 October to 11 December, the Church of Sant’Agostino Complex hosts the exhibition “IN CONTEMPORANEA | 9 Versilian artists 1980 – 2010”, curated by Antonella Serafini.

Around one hundred works, using various languages (video art, mail art, performance and installations, besides painting and sculpture), recount the Versilian art scene from the nineteen seventies to the present day.

On show works by: Vittore Baroni, Dario Barsottelli, Carlo Battisti, Antonino Bove, Gian Luca Cupisti, Emanuele Giannelli, Marco Maffei, Maximo Pellegrinetti and Claudio Tomei.

In the Church of Sant’Agostino the exhibition will be chronologically arranged. Each artist presents a number of selected pieces, with an emphasis on their relation to contemporary national and international trends. The cloister rooms will house the most recent works (2008-2010) in order to show the present point of development of each individual artist’s work.

At weekends the exhibition will include extra performances and meetings to further develop the themes addressed.

The exhibition is promoted by the Pietrasanta Town Council Office for the Arts, with the support of Fondazione Cassa di risparmio di Lucca and the collaboration of Province of Lucca
