The Premio Carducci celebrates its 54th edition. More than half a century of poetry in the birth town of Carducci, born on July 27th, 1835. A literary recognition that has promoted the best of Italian poetry from the second half of the 20th century for both the public and critics: Luzi, Pasolini, Covoni, Ottieri, Levi, Porta, Raboni, Erba, Cucchi.
The Award’s panel of judges, consisting of the president Raffaello Bertoli, Aldo A. Mola, Angela Guidotti, Giuseppe Marchetti and Marco Forti, will announce the winners of each section on Monday the 26th of July, while the final award ceremony will take place on Tuesday the 27th of July (18.00) at the Caffè della Versiliana.
Poets and essayists will present and read passages from their work in the literary salon of Romano Battaglia. At 11.00, on the day of the award, a deserved tribute will be paid to Carducci in the form of a commemoration at the house where he was born in Valdicastello. It is also on this occasion that the winners of the schools section will be announced, with award ceremony in the afternoon in Versiliana.
Finalists
Contenders for the poetry section: Corrado Calabrò – “La stella promessa” (Mondadori); Carla Cantini – “La strada della betulla” (Moretti e Vitali); and Giuseppe Cordoni – “Città dell’anima” (La Mimosa Gram Digital).
Contenders for the art essays section: Francesca Cernia Slovin – “Aby Warburg. Un banchiere prestato all’arte” (Marsilio); Gillo Dorfless – “L’inviato alla Biennale” (Scheiwiller); and Chiara Frugoni – “La voce delle immagini” (Einaudi).
Contenders for the literary essays section: Attilio Brilli – “Il viaggio in Oriente” (Il Mulino); Marco Sterpos – “Ottocento alfieriano” (Mucchi); and Enrico Tiozzo – “La letteratura italiana e il Premio Nobel” (Olschki).
Contenders for the history essays section: Roberto Pertici – “Chiesa e Stato in Italia. Dalla Grande Guerra al Nuovo Concordato (1914-1984). Dibattiti storici in Parlamento” (Il Mulino); Maria Gabriella di Savoia – “Gioielli di Casa Savoia” (Electa); and Rosanna Roccia – “Epistolario di Camillo Cavour, 1861” (Olscki).
