The myth of Marilyn Monroe, the glamour of Liz Taylor, the fairy tales of Andersen, the historic Coca Cola bottles, the legendary Campbell’s soup tins and many other graphic works can be admired until 29 January 2012 at Palazzo di Vetro of the Giuseppe Lazzareschi Foundation in Porcari (Lucca), that hosts the large exhibition dedicated to Andy Warhol, the American painter, sculptor and director who died in 1987, New York, aged 59.
“Andy Warhol…in the city”, this the title of the exhibition, is a joint venture set up by the agency Pubbliwork Eventi and Art Motors.
The 80 works on show, from the “Art Motors Collection” and private collectors, represent Warhol’s entire artistic and iconographic career from 1957 to 1987, providing a wide overview of his best known subjects (Marilyn, Liz Taylor, Mao Zedong, Flowers, Campbell’s Soup Can, Liza Mannelli, Andersen), as well as less well-known but important works, such as One Dollar or Monument.
