The game is very ancient, it seems to date back to the Middle Ages and is, however, a discipline recognized by CONI among traditional games and sports. It consists in launching, with a leather harness sling, of 1 to 30 kg cheese.
As with bowls, the launch of the cheese form was often a gamble, whose post was far beyond the "form" of a stake or a snack.
It is reported that a certain Baraccani, on a mid-afternoon afternoon, throwing a seasoned cheese of Pecorino, lost with most of the goods and possessions of the family, including the Monterastello castle in the Pavullo valley (Modena).
This year the Italian Championship in pairs takes place in Castelnuovo di garfagnana the Championship and covers categories for the following weights: Kg 1, Kg 3, Kg 6, Kg 9, Kg 25.
