The latest collection of the Ugo Guidi Museum, on show from 19 October to 7 November, showcases the last two years work by the Viareggio-born sculptor Carlo Galli.
The exhibition includes some of the artist’s most important works dating from 2011 to the present, such as the most recent Mina portrait and Green house, Dog and Soldiers and Cinghiale in umido (2012), and Work in progress (2011).
From the exhibition it is possible to note the constantly evolving metamorphosis of the artist, as he questions, reworks concepts, delves deeper and widens the viewpoint, with choral and site-specific works.
The study of the human body, and the personal interpretation of it, are the nerve centre of all his work. Whether incredibly realistic, or reshaped, reduced and simplified leaving them a story to tell, Galli’s figures portray mankind in all its bizarreness, often interweaving the work with socially oriented themes and current issues.
The inauguration of the exhibition, curated by Gaia Querci, will be held at 17.00, Saturday 19 October, at MUG. Open everyday until 7 November, by appointment, at the Museum and from 10.00 to 23.00 at the Logos Hotel.
Admission free.
