LABottega – Spazio per la Fotografia presents – from 11 October – the original exhibition “Carnage” by Nicola Gnesi.
The exhibition of black and white photographs by the artist from Pietrasanta forms part of “Autumn Issue”, the autumn season of photography exhibitions curated by Serena Del Soldato. It runs, at LABottega, from 11 October (inauguration at 9pm) to 2 November.
Carnage consists of around 20 still lives in splendid monochrome that reflect a distinctive personal style. This exhibition springs from the unconscious compulsion to mentally photograph the scene that Nicola Gnesi would witness when passing in front of the Chinatown markets in New York – a brutal violence that struck his eyes like a macabre beauty. Live flesh that became lifeless in an instant. Wings, feet, heads and bones – everything was transformed into something else and above all was incredibly imbued with a new beauty.
