Concerts in front of the nativity scene: “Notte di Luce” (Night of Light)

The VoxAlia.ensemble Cantori Lucca choir, directed by the maestro Livio Picotti, presents the concert “NOTTE DI LUCE, a musical journey in the European Christmas traditions” Friday 19/12 at 21.00 in the church of Santi Giovanni e Reparata, which also houses an 18th century Neapolitan style Nativity scene.

The concert forms part of the Opera del Duomo di Lucca initiative “Concerts in front of the Nativity scene“.

The programme includes:

• Gregorian Chant, Lauda from the Laudario di Cortona (XIII° C.), Lauda by Fr S. Razzi (1563),
• Cantos by Taize, folk Christmas songs, Bicinium (XIII° C.) Paris, Eduard Ebel (1839-1905),
• Brahms (1833-1897), Thomas Ravenscroft, (1611), Christmas Carol (1822),
• Villancico from the Cancionero de Upsala (Venice 1556), Franz Gruber (1787-1863).
