On the 7, 8 and 9 March, Lucca town centre will be transformed into a big dance school, hosting the Dance Meeting 2014.
The event starts Friday 7 March with a flash mob entitled “Oltre le mura” (Beyond the Walls) co-ordinated by Yoko Wakabayashi and created in collaboration with Opera delle Mura, taking place near the caffè by the same name.
The three-day event will be attended by young dancers, all aged between ten and twenty years old, from the best dance schools in Italy and Europe.
The Boccherini Institute with the Dutch dancers of the Codarts, will perform “incursioni, tra musica e danza” in Piazza Anfiteatro, under the loggia of Palazzo Pretorio, in piazza Cittadella, piazza Suffragio and some shops.
There are also meetings and lessons with expert teachers at Villa Bottini and Pia Casa with closing event on 9 March with the gala at the Giglio Theatre (21.00), where the main guests will perform and this year’s prizes will be awarded.
Among the accompanying initiatives, one should not miss the drawing competition “Io disegno la danza”. Over one hundred beautiful pictures on the theme of dance created by Primary School children from Lucca will be exhibited, in collaboration with Confcommercio, in shop windows of the centre from Monday 3 to Sunday 9 March.
