Dante in dark woods – Dante dead to hope

On August 17th, there will be a multi-media performance at Mommio Castle of the first two cantos of Dante’s Inferno using the English translation by Sinclair de Courcy Williams: “Dante in dark woods” and “Dante dead to hope”.
The reading will be accompanied by the showing of two medium-length films, devised and directed by Séan de Courcy Williams together with Francesco Galeassi, and by the ad hoc musical compositions of Michele Menchini, performed live by Simona Lippi (clarinet and violin), Luca Favilla (electric guitar),  Elena Bellotti (acoustic guitar), Michele Menchini (double bass) and  Sinclair de Courcy Williams (vocals).
This is the first modern English translation that respects the Dantean tercet and hendecasyllable.
