From 24 October to 30 November the exhibition “Different realities” is on show at the Cardi Gallery in Pietrasanta, bringing together work by the Italian born artists Bertozzi & Casoni and Bernardì Roig, from Spain.
“Different Realities” draws a contrast between these two different ways of representing reality.
The multicoloured and playful world of Bertozzi & Casoni, using ceramics to meticulously reproduce real objects, forms a counterattraction to Bernardì Roig’s spectral sculptures of heavy figures shown in moments of physical or mental suffering. The exaggerated construction, the intricate and gaudy superimpositions of the two Italian artists, contrast with the Spanish artist’s minimalism, where the white of the sculptures fights for space with the cold neon lights.
Giampaolo Bertozzi (Borgo Tossignano, Bologna, 1957) and Stefano Dal Monte Casoni (Lugo di Romagna, Ravenna, 1961) met during their studies at the Institute of Arts for ceramics in Faenza, and have worked together ever since.
The multimedia artist Bernardí Roig was born in Palma, Majorca, in1965, and presently lives and works in both Madrid and Binissalem in Majorca.
