The Digital Stone Project is a digital sculpture workshop that came about eighteen months ago from an agreement between Garfagnana Innovazione and the US Foundation Digital Stone in Trenton. The project involves 20 students and professionals from 9 prestigious American universities.
During the winter the students in the USA digitally create the works they intend to make, while in Gramolazzo expert sculptors roughly hew pieces of marble, prior to the arrival of the students in Italy, when they complete their creations themselves.
The 20 sculptures created, along with the 15 from last year, will be on display at the MuSA for the first 2 weeks of July, and then transferred to other Italian and international art centres: the Fortress of Mont’Alfonso, Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, National Archeology Museum of Florence in Piazza Santissima Annunziata and New York Institute of Technology, in the USA.
Opening hours at MuSA 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 July:
18:30 – 23:30.
Free admission.
